KEY FINDING

Pocket Option is an operating offshore platform, but it is not FCA-authorised and appears on the CFTC RED List. Those facts create substantial regulatory and consumer-protection risk. They do not, by themselves, prove fraud.

What can be verified

Pocket Option's published terms identify Infinite Trade LLC as the operator and give a Costa Rica registration address. The platform describes its product as contracts including High–Low trading and publishes rules for deposits, withdrawals and account termination.

A functioning website, company registration and written terms show that an operating product exists. None of those items is equivalent to authorisation by a top-tier financial regulator.

Why the FCA warning matters

The UK Financial Conduct Authority says PocketOption is not authorised by it and may be targeting people in the UK. The FCA advises consumers to avoid dealing with the firm.

A UK customer dealing with an unauthorised firm would not normally have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme protections described in the warning.

  • Not authorised by the FCA
  • No normal UK Ombudsman protection
  • No normal FSCS protection

Why the CFTC listing matters

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission lists Pocketoption on its Registration Deficient List. The entry says the entity appears to act in a capacity requiring registration but is not registered with the CFTC.

The CFTC explicitly notes that a RED List entry is not a court finding that a legal violation occurred. It is still a serious reason for US residents not to fund an account.

Our conclusion

We do not label Pocket Option a legally proven scam. We label it high risk because of its offshore structure, regulator warnings, product mechanics and limited avenues for redress in restricted jurisdictions.

Users should verify local legality and eligibility before registering. A demo account can explain the interface, but it does not reduce counterparty or withdrawal risk.
